Enable Sonar SmartAnswer

Forwarding calls from the office to a personal number? Eliminate the risk of mis-answering with net2phone Canada SmartAnswer. When SmartAnswer is enabled, you'll hear a voice prompt before the call connects, indicating it’s from your net2phone Canada extension. You can then press 1 to accept the call or hang up to reject it.

How to Enable Sonar SmartAnswer 

Office managers and call center supervisors must be in My Account to access their answering rules.

Identify your Time Frame First! 

Every answering rule must be linked to a time frame. The example below uses an Always Time Frame with Always Forward. 

 If you do not have a time frame to link your answering rule with, you must create a new one.

 

View the Original Caller ID or your Company Caller ID!

Differentiate personal calls from work calls when forwarding to a personal device. 

Enter a 10-digit number to forward the original caller ID of the caller. 
For example: If you enter 6132379329

Enter an 11-digit number to forward your company's caller ID
For example: 16132379329  

 
  1. Click the Answering Rules tab in your Sonar portal.
  2. Click the Add Rule button to create a new rule, or click the pencil icon to edit an existing Answering Rule.
     
  1. In the popup window, select the pre-existing Time Frame you want.
  2. Click the Simultaneous ring checkbox.
  3. Click the Enable net2phone Canada SmartAnswer checkbox.
  4. Enter the number(s) you want calls to be forwarded to. Numbers should be 10 digits without spaces, brackets, or dashes.
  5. (Optional) Enter a ring delay of 5 seconds by dragging the scroll bar upwards.
  6. Click the Save button when finished.

Pro Tips! 

  • Test that your net2phone Canada SmartAnswer is working by calling yourself from an external number.
  • When the net2phone Canada message is informing you of an incoming call, the caller will continue to hear a regular ringtone until 1 is pressed.
  • If you did not request to use net2phone Canada SmartAnswer and are receiving the message prompt as an error, call our net2phone Canada Support Team by dialing 611 on a net2phone Canada device, 877-498-3772 from an external phone, or email support@net2phone Canada.com.
