Simplify Your Login with Sonar Single Sign-On (SSO)

We're excited to announce a new feature designed to make accessing your Sonar account even easier: Single Sign-On (SSO).

Does your organization want to pilot SSO?

The net2phone Single Sign-On (SSO) feature is in the pilot stage of release. If you'd like to be considered a tester, please complete the registration form, and a net2phone Canada agent will reach out to you.

What is SSO?

Single-Sign-On (SSO) allows software users to implement 1 login across multiple apps.

SSO Business Benefits

Eliminate the need to remember multiple usernames and passwords with SSO! Simplify your login process by using a single set of secure credentials (like your Google or MS Office 365) to access various applications, including net2phone Sonar.

Convenience
No more juggling multiple passwords!

Improved Security
SSO leverages the robust security measures of your existing Google or Office 365 account.

Efficiency
Save time and effort by logging in with just a few clicks.

How Does SSO Work with Sonar?

We've integrated SSO into our login page, giving you the option to sign in using your existing Google or Office 365 account. Here's what you can expect:

Existing Sonar Accounts: If your Google or Office 365 email address is already associated with your Sonar account, you can log in directly using those credentials.
Multiple Sonar Accounts: If your email is linked to various Sonar accounts, you'll be able to choose which one you want to access. The system will even remember your selection for future logins, making it even quicker to get started.

New to Sonar? No problem!

If your email isn't associated with a Sonar account yet, you can easily link it during the login process. You'll be prompted to enter your Sonar username and password once, and then you're all set!

SSO Security Considerations

Before utilizing SSO you should be aware of a few security points.

Beware of Multiple Email Addresses on One Account
If a Sonar account has multiple Google or Office 365 email addresses linked to it, any of those addresses can be used to log in via SSO; including scenarios where an additional email address has been added for voicemail notifications (e.g., an assistant receiving their manager's voicemails). We recommend that Office Managers always review the email addresses associated with their user's Sonar accounts.

Beware of Group Email Addresses
If a shared email address (e.g., info@company.com) is linked to several Sonar accounts, anyone with access to the shared email's credentials can potentially log in to any of the associated accounts.

Security Recommendations from net2phone Experts

Thoroughly review all email associations linked to SSO. If possible, avoid linking multiple email addresses to a single Sonar account, even for the purpose of sharing voicemail notifications. Instead, consider creating distribution email groups within your Google or Office 365 environment. These groups allow you to send voicemails and notifications to multiple people without creating extra login credentials and compromising security, especially when dealing with shared company email addresses like info@company.com where multiple individuals might have access to shared email addresses.

Sign in to Sonar with SSO

After you have SSO enabled as a pilot feature, you can follow the steps below to sign in.

  1. Navigate to the Sonar login page. You'll see new options to sign in with Google or Office 365.
  2. Choose your preferred login method.
  3. Follow the prompts. Note: If you're linking your email to a Sonar account that isn't already associated with your email address, you'll be asked to enter your Sonar credentials once.

Manage SSO Settings

To add or remove SSO access, simply visit your profile settings within the Sonar app. You can find the Single Sign-On settings within the Change Account Security section.

Removing SSO access from your profile does not permanently block the feature. You can easily re-enable SSO with your Google or Office 365 credentials anytime. Currently, there is no way to prevent specific users from utilizing SSO once it's been enabled for a domain.

Using SSO for login does not automatically add your email address to your Sonar account for other purposes, such as receiving voicemails. You can add your email address separately in your profile settings if you wish to receive voicemail notifications.
